Tim's Favorite Links
- Bicycling
- Directories
- Google - Currently the
best web search engine. It's so good it's scary.
- Open Directory Project -
This is now my favorite web directory since overall it is
larger and more accurate than Yahoo. It's also fun being a
volunteer editor for them ;-)
- 4-H
- Project Management
- Reference
- Infoplease.com - A
quick and helpful combination of Encyclopedia and Dictionary.
Not that in-depth but fast and useful and family oriented.
- Shopping
- Amazon.com - I've been
very happy ordering books, CDs, and other merchandise from
Amazon. They have a good shopping experience, they are
reasonably secure, it's easy to find related books, and it's
nice to read reviews by professionals as well as everyday
people.
- Soccer
- Web services
- Yahoo - My favorite web
service. I use them for maps, yellow pages, financial
information (companies, stocks, etc), email services, calendar,
Yahoo Groups, etc. I currently think that everyone should use
Yahoo or some other reliable web service as their central email
depot so that they can have a stable email address that is
ISP-independent. Yahoo email supports pop3 access as well as
email via any web browser.
- Yahoo Groups - This
is the BEST group organizational and communication tool/service
that I've found yet. For the price of a few discrete ads, they
provide email and web-based discussion lists, calendar, file
sharing, databases, and more. [Formerly a separate company
called eGroups. Acquired by Yahoo in the year 2000.]
